Drymen Curling Club

The Ladies v Gents competition was played last week at Stirling. The Ladies team was Skip Anne Ewing and her team of Lorna Young, Janet Simpson and Anna Deacon. The Gents were led by Fraser Robb, and his team of Stevie Martin and Russell Easton. Despite a three point penalty for only having three players, the Gents fought a hard battle to win by one point, with the result going down to the last end!

The rescheduled Robert Paterson match on 30th January will be played at 18:15 and not 20:30 as previously stated.

A great day by all was had at Greenacres for this years Jimmy Bilsland Trophy. In a close game, the final was won by Alexis Easton! Thanks to Jim Bilsland for sponsoring the event. The soup and sandwiches for lunch were much appreciated by all!

The Peak have rescheduled a couple of the cancelled fixtures from earlier this year:

• Thursday 19th February 2015, 20.30: Final of Jim Carswell Trophy.
• Thursday 4th December 2014, 20.30: Robert Paterson League. This is for the missed game on 30th October 2014. Drymen v Fintry.

Following the recent closure of the Peak, the following changes have been made to some of the Forth and Endrick competitions:

• Area 6 Knockout
  • Cancelled.

• Jim Carswell Knockout
  • The Low Road has been cancelled.
  • 29th January:  Strathendrick v Drymen & Balfron v Buchlyvie play semi final at 20.30. Date for final to be re-allocated.

• Robert Paterson League
  • Cancelled game on 9th October will be played on 30th January at 20.30  (instead of Points)  Strathendrick v Fintry, Buchlyvie v Kippen, Buccaneers v Drymen, Port v Loch Ard, Bye Balfron.
  • Cancelled game on 30th October to be re-allocated ice.

• Forest Hills League
  • Cancelled 17th October game Strathendrick v Balfron, Castle v Buchlyvie  now on 5th March 2015 at 20.30. Buccaneerss v Port to be re-allocated ice for 18.15 start.
  • Cancelled 7th November game to be re-allocated ice.

• Area 6 Bonspiel
  • 22nd January 2015:  18.15 & 20.30 at the Peak as before:
    • 18.15  Buccaneers, Kippen, Balfron.
    • 20.30  Strathendrick, Drymen, Buchlyvie.

• Points
  • Currently postponed – decision pending.

Just a reminder that the Jimmy Bilsland is on this Sunday 23rd November at Greenacres. There will be lunch beforehand, at 12 noon. Looking forward to seeing you all there! Teams and fixtures on the website as usual.

Good news! The Peak reopened on Saturday 8th November, so we are able to start playing again. The remaining League Cup fixture on the 28th will be played as scheduled. Thanks for your patience during this unfortunate time.

The latest we have from The Peak is that strengthening work will be starting tomorrow (Tuesday 28th), and should last no more than a few days. We have been told by the ice rink that they will be in touch shortly to discuss cancelled and future bookings, so hope to be able to update you soon. See this letter from Active Stirling.
